I am a photographer in the Sacramento Valley. My journey started in sports photography 20 years ago as a hobby which turned into a passion during when my son started playing sports, then turn into a career capturing those special moments.

Now having grandkids playing soccer, baseball and martial arts, I understand that capturing those meaningful memories that will be cherished forever.

I started taking photos at 20 years old in Stockton, California, during a time when everything around me felt new and exciting. I was fascinated by the world I was stepping into—the people I met and the experiences photography opened up for me. What began as taking pictures of friends quickly grew into shooting parties, clubs, weddings, models, and fashion shows. I’ve always believed that whatever I can point my camera at, I can shoot.

Our History

Macshot Photography was founded by Michael Chaves Sr and Michael Chaves Jr a father and son hobby to a passion years later and a visionary with a passion for both the art of photography.

After spending years honing his skills as a freelance photographer, Michael Jr started his fashion photography that not only captured the aesthetics of the clothing but also the story and personality behind the brand. With a dream to fill this niche, he established Macshot Photography in the heart of Valley, aiming to fuse artistic photography with a fashion narrative. In capturing events such as engagements, weddings, maternity and family portraits, Michael Jr has alway created images that his clients will cherish.

As Michael Sr started his passion capturing sports and action events from high school before moving into concerts, MMA, Muay Thai and other events. In recent years youth sports have become the most meaningful part of my work, With my own grandkids playing sports, capturing the journey and growth. Macshot Photography quickly distinguished itself with its unique style and innovative approach. Michael Jrs leadership and artistic direction pushed the company to explore creative boundaries, blending traditional techniques with modern technology. Macshots early projects included small local fashion labels, which allowed the team to experiment and refine their craft. These initial successes laid the foundation for the studio's reputation as a pioneer in fashion and sports photography.

Macshot Photography became known for its attention to detail and its ability to create powerful visual stories that resonated with their clients, friends and family. Whether working on personal family sessions, engagements, or company events, the company maintained its commitment to quality and creativity.
